Award-Winning Artist John Clarke to Illustrate Chaucer in the Classroom Series

John ClarkeWe’re thrilled about the latest development at Canterbury Tails Books, our new imprint for children’s titles: We have been fortunate to sign award-winning illustrator John Clarke of Salem, Massachusetts to create the artwork for the first six books in the Chaucer in the Classroom series. Learning Is Cool… It’s the First Day of School!, the first title in the series, will be released in August.

John Clarke had already captured Chaucer’s look perfectly for the travel book we published last year, Tube-Sock Tricks, and 101 Other Tips for RVing Success, which was also “written” by the literary fox terrier.

In fact, it was on the campaign trail to promote Chaucer’s travel book last winter that we got the idea for launching a children’s book division in the first place. At book signings, parents kept telling us, “Look how interested my kids are in your cute little dog. You have to get him into the classroom!”

John Clarke’s illustrations will be interspersed with original photographs taken on location at elementary school classrooms around the country–a format that will be carried through the series.
