Ready for the First Day of School? Chaucer “Talks” Classroom Jitters and More at the Ingalls Memorial Library

Chaucer and Carmen Madrid with Children's Librarian Georgianna Connor at the Ingalls Memorial LibraryThe first day of school is a really big deal–especially if you’re stepping up from preschool to kindergarten, or from kindergarten to first grade at the “big kids’ school.” Ringing bells, rules galore! And all those new faces to meet. Chaucer and his entourage visited the Ingalls Memorial Library in Rindge, N.H. on Monday to help the little ones in the summer reading program prepare for The Big Day.

Chaucer Visits the Ingalls Memorial Library in Rindge, New HampshireMore than 40 kiddies and their parents crowded the children’s room to hear Chaucer read his book Learning Is Cool… It’s the First Day of School! (with a little assistance from his editorial team) and to ask questions of the canine author. Afterwards, everyone trooped out to the lawn for a group photo in front of the historic building.

Chaucer’s next appearance will be at the annual Fitzwilliam Fair on Saturday 11 August. He’ll be paw-tographing books (both Learning Is Cool and his travel guide Tube-Sock Tricks, and 101 Other Tips for RVing Success) and selling sets of his note cards, too. Stop by early with your best four-legged friend for a sample of our homemade peanut-butter dog biscuits.
