Mom’s Choice Award for Excellence in Family-Friendly Media, Products, and Services

Exciting news from the Canterbury Tails Books division of our indie publishing house: Learning Is Cool… It’s the First Day of School! has been honored with the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award!

“We are thrilled to have been selected from among what must be hundreds of books submitted to this program every year,” says publisher Carmen Madrid. “As Chaucer’s publisher, I know the quality and value of Learning Is Cool, but it is particularly exciting when others recognize it, too.”

Learning Is Cool… It’s the First Day of School! is the first book in the Chaucer in the Classroom series. The book format for the series combines original artwork by award-winning illustrator John Clarke of Salem, Massachusetts, and original photographs shot on location in elementary school classrooms around the country. Unlike many children’s books today, Chaucer’s high-quality case-bound books are manufactured in the U.S.A.

The Mom’s Choice Awards program is globally recognized for establishing the benchmark of excellence in family-friendly media, products, and services. The organization is based in the United States and has reviewed thousands of entries from more than 55 countries. To be considered for a Mom’s Choice Award, entrants submit five identical samples for evaluation. Evaluators, drawn from the MCA database, are bound by a strict code of ethics not only to ensure objectivity, but also to ensure that the evaluation is free from manufacturer influence. The five evaluations are submitted to the MCA Executive Committee for final review and approval. “Our aim is to introduce families and educators to best-in-class products and services,” explains Dawn Matheson, executive director of the Mom’s Choice Awards. “We have a passion to help families grow emotionally, physically, and spiritually.”
